This is Gabe Newell the the founder and CEO of Valve Software. This Microsoft engineer founded valve software in 1996 with his friend Mike Harrington. After they opened Valve Software they had no experience of making video games so they went to ID software for help, they got Quake 1 engine, hired some modders and off they went to make Hal Life. In 1997 they first showed it at e3 and people loved it. For release of 1997 Christmas Holiday it got delayed for 1998. They scraped the whole game and rebuilt it for its 1998 release. After release they won over 50 awards and went to make a successful sequel Half Life 2.
